I have created a new weather web site for my home town of Christchurch, New Zealand.
The display is very similar to a Windows Vista gadget I wrote a year or so back. But this is on an HTML page.
Some features:
- There is only 1 page
- The page automatically refreshes each minute without any flashing or postbacks
- The data it pulls down from my server each minute is only about 1200 bytes.
- The charts are drawn on the client; they are not images. Thanks to a library called wz_jsgraphics.js
which you can download at http://www.walterzorn.com - The data comes from a colleagues weather station web site (which I host for him) at http://weather.cobbnz.com
I guess this is not a lot of use to anyone unless you live in Christchurch - to see it go to http://weather.crowe.co.nz
There is also a small weather site created for my Blackberry at http://bb.weather.crowe.co.nz
