I thought it was about time to install and test out Windows 7 - it has been available for at least 3 days by the time I got around to it.

I have a small Dell Laptop - Latitude D430 running Vista Ultimate so I did an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate.
The upgrade took approximately 4 hours to complete and generally went fine with all hardware detected and working.
My first test was to try out the Cisco VPN Client which was installed and working when the system was running Windows Vista.
I loaded the application which looked fine but when I went to make a VPN connection I got a Error 440: Driver Failure error message.
I then uninstalled the VPN Client, rebooted, and reinstalled it.
After the reinstall it wanted a reboot so I let it do that but then it failed with a BSOD (blue screen of death) and went into the Startup Repair mode which basically let me use a System Restore point to restore to before I installed the VPN Client.
So my machine was back again but without VPN.

Another use had already reported the issue with the CISCO VPN Client so I added my 2 cents and waited a couple of days and went back today and found that Aaron Tiensivu another MVP who had put together a page on his site with possible fixes for the BSOD.

Is my case I used Method #1 which I have listed below and this fixed the problem for me, but there are 3 methods in total on his site to try to resolve the issue.
Method #1
I browsed to the Citrix web site at http://www.citrix.com/lang/English/lp/lp_1680845.asp and run the WINFIX.EXE tool, and then I run the dneupdate.msi for 32bit. I then (without rebooting) installed the VPN Client and then rebooted. It worked and no BSOD.
- Install the Citrix DNE update before installing any VPN client (I did not reboot)
- Install VPN Client - the version I installed was 5.0.00.0340 and then rebooted
- No BSOD on reboot
- Logon and connect as usual.
- All go
